[Watch] Ryan Reynolds as Detective Pikachu is Coming To A Big Screen Near You!

You thought you'd had enough of Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. Well he's back... and cuter than ever!

The first trailer for Detective Pikachu dropped last night, and we were in awe of the Ryan Reynolds as Pikachu, the titular electric mouse. We couldn’t have imagined it better because the Deadpool star looks perfect as the cute, cuddly and very fuzzy Pikachu in the first-ever live-action Pokemon movie.

The plot takes place in Ryme City. It involves the life of a young detective named Tim (played by Justice Smith). He stumbles upon the Pikachu, and it seems that the two understand each other just fine. They team up to solve a mystery, that of Tim’s missing father.

The CGI/Live-action hybrid movie is produced by Legendary Entertainment. It will be released by Universal Picture, and Warner Bros. The movie is based on a 2016 video game of the same name. Pikachu got its voice in this video game, where before in the cartoons the character only made a cute (albeit slightly disturbing) bleating sound.

The film also stars Iran Soni, Ken Watanabe, Paul Kitson and Bill Nighy.

Fans of Pokemon rejoice because Pikachu isnt the only one making an appearance. The trailer gives us a sneak peek at Jigglypuff, Charlizard, Charmander, Psyduck. Oh and there’s Mr. Mime who seems to be his usual mean self.

… and we are totally okay with that!

Reynolds went to Twiiter to share the first trailer of the movie with his followers. He said, “I think we all knew I’d wind up as a miniature detective repeatedly saying the same two words. Just didn’t think it’d be this soon. #PikaPika #DetectivePikachu”

His fans and lovers of Deadpool didn’t waste a moment trolling Ryan for his choice of roles.

We can already tell that this movie will pull at the heartstrings of all Pokemon fans. It’s promising to be a fun watch that’s full of nostalgia. We are totally on board!

POKÉMON Detective Pikachu is set to hit theaters in May 2019!
